Run for Charity
If you haven’t managed to secure your own place through the Brighton Marathon 2012 “First come, first served” entry system, and you don’t want to wait to see if you’ve got a spot via our final ballot, there is an alternative that guarantees you a place - you can run for one of the many charities holding guaranteed spots. Or perhaps you have decided that you want to run for charity anyway, which is great!
Why run for a charity?
Running for a charity can not only be extremely rewarding but there are many other reasons it is a good option* that you will find thoroughly fulfilling and highly motivational:
Helps to keep you motivated during the cold winter nights of training
Dedicated support from your chosen charity throughout your build up period
Charity running vest, fundraising pack and other goodies
Charity training advice
Be part of a team
Charity cheerers on the day making you feel extra special!
Charity Village on the beach adjacent to the Finish area where you’ll be able to meet family & friends in comfort

Which charity should I run for?
There are over 300 charities involved in the 2012 Brighton Marathon, so there is a lot of choice! Choose a charity which means something to you or which you have a genuine interest in; it will help you achieve your fundraising goal if you can talk passionately about the cause to other people. Please browse through our charity listings and contact your charity of choice directly.

I managed to secure my own place; can I still run for a charity?
Yes, of course and we would encourage you to do so! The only difference is that you will not have to meet a specific fundraising target – any money you can raise is a bonus and will be much appreciated. Please contact your chosen charity directly and tell them that you have your ‘Own Place’ but want to run for them.
