On Sunday 10th April 2011, race day of the Brighton Marathon, the sun beat down once again as more than 1100 youngsters took part in the second staging of the Grand Hotel Mini Mile Races.

Following a warm up led by Sussex County Cricket’s Syd The Shark and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Gully & Gullys Girls, the series of 8 races were started by local resident and Olympic Champion Sally Gunnell following some inspirational words of encouragement.

The gathering crowds witnessed a new course record of 4.18 as Charlie Grice smashed 10 seconds of his winning time in the 2010 race.

Other highlights included:
Abigail Ashbee-Simmonds who was the fastest to cross the line amongst the girls.
Amber Anning won her age category race for the second year running
Lucca Bigg the Son of Sally Gunnell won his race category - the U11 Boys Race

The top three runners in each category received trophies on the Brighton Marathon podium with all finishers receiving a medal and goody bag. A full list of results can be found here

100 lucky runners found a Golden Ticket in their race packs. These tickets were quickly swapped by the holders for a free pair of Saucony running trainers, provided in association with American Express.
