16-year-old Charlie Grice had the honour to be the first man to cross the line of the Inaugural Brighton Marathon when he won the opening race of the Grand Hotel Mini Mile series. “Not a difficult race,” said the Cardinal Newman student, “There wasn't much opposition.” It was Grice who last year broke Steve Ovett's 800m Brighton schoolboy record, taking it down to 1:55.80.
